Q: What is Hansen’s plan to move my vehicle?
A: Although we may have to alter your vehicle's due date, we are conducting business as usual and have a contingency plan to continue moving vehicles by truck immediately.
Q: When will my vehicle get moved?
A: We ask that you be patient as we will continue to move vehicles in order of priority (by truck). We do not need a full load to move product. Our objective is to maintain fluidity and transit times as if vehicles were moving on rail.
Q: Does Hansen’s have any idea how long the strike might last?
A: Although Hansen’s couldn’t possibly determine the length of any rail strike, it is expected that if the dispute isn’t settled in short order, the government will step in. Again, although there is no specified timeline for such action, history tells us that normally the rail workers have been legislated back to work in a fairly short time frame. There will be news coverage following these events and we expect to be posting regular updates on our Facebook / Twitter / Google+ pages as well as here on our Blog as more information becomes available . Q: My car is already on rail, what happens to it now?
A: Your vehicle will be delayed for the number of days the strike lasts as all rail will stop completely if a strike occurs. The positive to this is that your vehicle is already on a rail car. Once the strike ends, there will be a back-log at the front of the line to get vehicles that have been waiting to get moved, on a rail car. You will not have to “line up” as your car already occupies a space on a rail car and will resume its planned journey to destination once the strike has come to completion. We will do our very best to alleviate the inconvenience of your vehicle being trapped on rail although we are not legally liable for delays due to strikes.
Q: My car is in your yard now (or on it's way by truck) to be moved to another province by rail. If it doesn’t make it on a truck before the strike ends due to priority, when will it move?
A: Your vehicle will be put in priority sequence to go on rail once the rail lines begin to move again. Although it is fair to expect some back-log, we will get your vehicle on rail as soon as possible and will stay in touch with you regarding it's progress. Once a strike ends, there may still be a need to ship vehicles by truck for a short period of time in order to meet our commitments to customers. This will be evaluated on a one-by-one basis in due time. The longer the strike, the longer we will be shipping by truck to compensate.
